About

The Beck family has owned and managed Riverfront Motel since purchasing the property in 2003. Since then, the motel has undergone a thoughtful program of sensitive refurbishment, working closely with local design studio BOYDE to honour the site’s character while enhancing comfort and style.

With a background in commercial fishing and farming, food has always been close to our hearts. In recent years, the restaurant has become a key focus, showcasing honest, well-crafted dishes — and locals have certainly taken notice.

Riverfront Motel was once operated as two separate businesses: Highway Village Motor Inn and Tudor Holiday Village. Under new ownership and a fresh vision, the properties were brought together and reimagined as one cohesive, resort-style destination. Set across eight acres of waterfront land, it offers a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the CBD.

Originally built in 1960, the motel retains many of its original mid-century features throughout the restaurant, guest rooms and the River House, designed by renowned architect John Anderson. Celebrated for its architectural significance, Riverfront Motel has been featured in Open House Hobart and Tim Ross’ Motel tour, earning its place as a cherished example of Australian mid-century motel design.
